?> Kevin Crossman-T3 Triathlon Coaching

MEET our T3 APRIL ATHLETE of the MONTH, TAMI OLHEISER!

Q: What is your name and where do you live?

A: Tami Olheiser, Niskayuna, NY

Q: What is your age?

A: 36

Q: What is your occupation?

A: CFAO (Chief Finance and Administration Officer) at Bright Hub, Inc.

Q: How long have you been participating in triathlons?

A: Not long! Late last summer was the first one on my own. Before that, always as part of a team, I was the runner.

Q: How long have you been coached by Kevin Crossman?

A: I started with Kevin last fall when he taught me to swim.

Q: What is your favorite race, and why?

A: I don’t have a favorite.

Q: What is your favorite piece of triathlon equipment?

A: Hhhhmmmm – probably my heart rate monitor, however it makes me a little OCD.

Q: What are some of your career highlights as an athlete (not necessarily triathlon)?

A: Learning to swim was probably the most exciting for me. Being capable of running long distance is also a highlight.

Q: What are your triathlon goals for the 2008 season?

A: Mooseman in June and Ironman Lake Placid in July.

Q: What is your long-term goal in the sport of triathlon?

A: My long term goal right now is just a few months away – finishing Lake Placid with a smile on my face. After that? Get ready for the 2009 Lake Placid Ironman.

Q: What are 3 foods someone would always find in your refrigerator/cupboards?

A: Protein bars, fruit (all kinds), Corona Light

Q: Do you specialize in a particular triathlon distance? If so, why that distance?

A: No

Q: What advice would you give to a 'newbie' in the sport?

A: I am a newbie :). But what I have learned so far is the best thing you can do is hire a coach – makes life so much easier. Also – plan plan plan. Not only get your workout gear ready ahead of time, but when working out in the morning before going to work, get your lunch packed and your work clothes ironed etc so you don’t feel rushed throughout the workout knowing you have a ton of stuff still to do at home before you can head to work.

Q: Do you have any secret training tips? (Not really secret if you share, huh?)

A: Be organized and keep track of everything.

Q: Please list your favorite workout:

A: All of them actually – I’m having so much fun! I really enjoy my early morning runs with my running group and one of my dogs when we get to see the sun rise and hear the birds singing. I enjoy the solitude of a morning swim. I like watching a good movie while cycling indoors.

Q: Any thoughts you want to share?

A: Get a coach to give you a plan and stick to it….and, of course, have fun!
