"I first talked to Kevin just a few weeks out
from my first and only marathon. He hadn't taken me
on as an athlete yet but his nutrition advice that
he gave me is what made the difference between me
finishing the marathon and actually enjoying the marathon
and having enough energy at the end to run a couple
mile cool down! His advice was spot on and I wasn't
even his athlete....yet.
In 2006 I signed up for a 1/2 IM and started training
for the race myself. Being an endurance swimmer most
of my life and a fairly avid cyclist I knew what had
to be done. Training was going great until a week
before my first race I was diagnosed with a femoral
stress fracture. That injury took me out of running
for most of that summer. I built my running base up
very slowly and signed up for IMWI and started to
throw around the idea of a coach.
2007 was a big year for me, finishing my first marathon,
first olympic distance tri, first 1/2 Ironman and
my first Ironman. Kevin and Paul were a huge part
of my success. When I met with Kevin and Paul I immediately
felt comfortable with their knowledge of the sport
and was impressed with their experience between them
in the IM distance races. The workouts that Kevin
gives are never boring, they do hurt sometimes, and
I'm sure Kevin's ears are ringing when I'm on the
track or doing Z-4 rides, but they all have a place
in the training plan.
Kevin is great with adapting schedules and has a fantastic
understanding of balancing family, career and triathlon.
I can go on for a long time about my confidence in
Kevin as a coach but I'll just say that having a coach
like Kevin or Paul takes a lot of stress off me wondering
if I'm doing enough training for what my goals are
or too much training and risking injury."

"Kevin Crossman is an incredible coach because he does an
excellent job of individualizing training while closely monitoring the many different
aspects of triathlon training. Kevin knows how and when to push you beyond your comfort zone.
He is passionate about the sport and that passion spills over into his coaching which directly benefits all of his athletes. :) I can go on!!!!!!"
-- Carrie Mauro, a student of Coach Kevin
"Summer of 2007 I was one of the lucky ones that was able to secure a spot for the 2008 Ironman Lake Placid event.
Not knowing how to swim, not owning a bike, but loving running, Coach Kevin had his worked cut out for him.
Coaching isn't just about giving you your weekly workouts.
It's much much more than that. Coach Kevin is the
"complete" coach - yes, giving you your weekly workouts
as expected, but also being a constant motivator,
counselor, teacher, and friend. He is incredibly knowledgeable,
patient, and responsive...as an added bonus he even
throws in a bit a humor.
Coach Kevin keeps the workouts interesting with a
ton of variety. I have learned so much over the last
year from Kevin and have had a blast the entire time!"
-- Tami Olheiser, a student of Coach
Kevin
"Kevin is an extraordinary coach. He models balance
and commitment in his own life. He is honest and aware
in his relationship with himself and his athletes.
He supported me not only as an athlete trying to prepare
mentally and physically for my triathlon. He also
helped me understand why I was competing in the first
place. The training and support he offered helped
me turn a training schedule into a graceful exploration
of self. I gained a deeper understanding of the power
of commitment, the meaning of sport, and the wonder
of my own physiology. Kevin's coaching helped me put
athleticism into a grander place in my life. At the
end of 30 weeks, I had the best race of my life. Though
I was exhausted, every step of the way was a celebration."
